I agree that while Windows 7 is a great new OS, it isn't half as good as it SHOULD have been, and it only seems a breakthrough because of how horrible Vista was.

Now that you convinced me, what operating system DO you like?Robomasterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03626056208797592638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4481041552935549293.post-34314531679580037802009-07-19T22:57:21.311-07:002009-07-19T22:57:21.311-07:00I'm admittedly not a fan of Microsoft in gener...I'm admittedly not a fan of Microsoft in general, but that's not just because I feel like being a hater. I truly believe they make subpar products, which do not appeal to me. I understand many people disagree and can live with what they put out. I do like the Xbox and Xbox 360, both of which I own.

The funny thing is I work at an IT/computer repair company so I'm around Windows all the time. I think XP is solid and mostly reliable. It's not fun to use, but it gets the job done. I agree Vista is a disaster. No use debating that. The problem with Windows 7 is I just don't like how it works. It's a personal preference. The marketable features and speed are fine. Although it's a step up from Vista it's still not enough. It's not intuitive to use and there are too many design & usability choices they made that I just don't agree with.Tonynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4481041552935549293.post-36634185953183924482009-07-19T15:04:45.946-07:002009-07-19T15:04:45.946-07:00Tony,

Now that Microsoft took away everything unneeded and replaced it with useful features, I believe they have a new, better start.

If you want this to be a meaningful 'debate,' could you tell me if you are just a Vista hater or a 'Microsoft-in-general' hater.

Because I am most certainly a Vista hater.Robomasterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03626056208797592638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4481041552935549293.post-12690149202529207072009-07-19T14:47:15.792-07:002009-07-19T14:47:15.792-07:00While I certainly respect your opinion, I have to ...While I certainly respect your opinion, I have to disagree with the positive light you're putting Windows 7 in. I installed one of the betas as well and I couldn't stand it. Windows 7 is essentially a repackaged version of Vista with some speed improvements and user interface changes. Under the hood and in use it is still very much like Vista, as even Steve Ballmer has said himself. Consumers and business users who have gotten used to XP for the past 8 years and hated everything about Vista will still not like switching to Windows 7. They might tolerate it, but it still won't be a pleasure to use. Isn't that what we all want? Something that we truly enjoy living with every day? Microsoft really needs to start fresh and go back to square one, kind of like Apple did about 10 years ago with OS X.Tonynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4481041552935549293.post-64138803717091639242009-07-19T14:30:00.367-07:002009-07-19T14:30:00.367-07:00Thanks for the comments! Sure, I'm still on 7057 (haven't had chance to upgrade my laptop), but I'm looking forward to getting my Windows 7 E Home Premium package in October.Livin in a boxhttp://www.neowin.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4481041552935549293.post-45289392120475295272009-07-19T11:07:10.586-07:002009-07-19T11:07:10.586-07:00Good general review man. I think Microsoft is finally "getting it" as far as what people WANT and NEED in an operating system.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09332785471527657434noreply@blogger.com
